OUR STORY

President and Owner Tom Schmelzer began machining precision instrument components in 1979 as an employee of Gatan Inc. He has forty years of experience as a Pennsylvania-certified Journeyman Machinist / Precision Instrument Maker.

During his tenure at Gatan Inc, he expanded his skill set. He no longer exclusively machined parts, but he also was a TEM Holder Service Engineer at Gatan's Munich, Germany branch and at their Warrendale, PA facilitywhere he developed the TEM Sample Holder Service department from the ground up.

Beginning in 2002, Tom started TGS Technologies, a company dedicated to its customers' needs and providing quality service. In the years since then, the company has grown to service a variety of sample holders for a number of prestigious research institutions and laboratories, servicing holders such as single tilt, double tilt, room temperature, cooling, heating and rotate holders.
